By Ricci Mararac

This is an article directed to anyone who thinks that it’s cool to destroy school property.
In the recent years at Stadium we have had the boys and girls bathrooms locked on several occasions and for several different reasons.

Media, shmedia

What role do the media play in high school behavior? Just think about how much the media impacts you life alone. When you wake up in the morning you listen to the radio on your way to school, you watch TV while getting ready, you even chat with your friends about what happened last night on Gossip Girl, or not.

"... listen to some similar music, watch similar shows, or even read similar books..."

No matter who you are, weather it be news or reality TV, media happens to influence what you do every day. If you think about it, even in your social groups are based on the media. You all listen to some similar music, watch similar shows, or even read similar books. If you think about it the easiest question to ask about someone is “What kind of music do you usually listen to?”

Media also shapes what you do at school, whether it is current events, music, and movies. I’m sure you have that one teacher that talks about the score of last night’s game, or of a new movie that they recommend for you to see. Mr. Ochs recommended many movies to his students, let alone sound tracks. Many art teachers play music of their own to get those creative juices flowing. When reading Hamlet or even To Kill a Mocking Bird, at the end of the book you watch a movie. You discuss what is different between the movie and the book. The school curriculum has a course call World Issues, how more influenced by the media can you get.

Our graduation quote of from a song by Kanye West, our graduation song is from Mr. West too. Everything in your life revolves around the media, home, school friends; so the next time you are hanging out with a friend or the next time you are in class ask yourself if what your doing is media related.
