Renaissance Review!

I’ve always wondered why the activity assemblies for people with a 3.0 GPA or higher are called renaissance assemblies. I always connected the word renaissance with the 14 th century revival movement, which doesn’t apply to what the renaissance assemblies are about; celebrating good grades. However, the true definition of renaissance is any revival in the world of art and learning.

The renaissance assemblies and carnivals are a celebration of those continuing the movement of reviving art and learning and is a privilege to any invited to attend. It is a chance to finally be commended and rewarded for your efforts by attending a fun and interactive assembly and carnival where I myself had a good time and got a nice tan!

Some students have chosen and continue to choose to skip these assemblies, which I find disrespectful and pointless. The school puts in so much effort to reward us and try to create a fun environment, why waste that? I mean, they were giving away fish at one of the games this year! I got a tiny guppy and named it Godzilla (: Overall, I appreciate the efforts our school makes to reward those who deserve it and always look forward to attending the renaissance assemblies and carnivals.
