*Mission Statement*
"To motivate young people to be better citizens"

Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC)
The Thunderbird Battalion here at Mount Tahoma has a long and proud history. With the guidance of the SAI (Senior Army Instructor) LTC (ret.) Ronald Baynes and AI (Army Instructor) MSG (ret.) Galen House, the Battalion provides support to many different school programs and events, as well as programs and events within the community.

The Cadets are encouraged to take up leadership roles within and outside of the Battalion and participate in meaningful volunteering and life changing opportunities. The Cadets represent Mount Tahoma in Northwest Drill and Rifle competitions through our special teams, displaying T-Bird Pride to dozens of other schools around the state. With its student led policy, the Thunderbird Battalion provides a unique leadership experience for the students who participate in it.

The Army JROTC are always set to high standards on everything that could help them achieve higher goals from the SAI and AI. The cadets must prove themselves through classroom leadership to the competition within our school. Brigade and Cadet Challenges are held to witness the physical strength of our cadets along with formal inspections by the Battalion Commander or an actual Army instructor to challenge our knowledge. Nothing can't be done without everyone pitching in.
