Spring Musical Around the Corner

Directors Valerie Navarro (artistic) & Daniel Erickson (technical).
Come delight to the complex and lyrical sounds of Sondheim as Foss students wander through life, love and New York in this year’s musical, Company. The students have worked since last fall to create a performance that will stay in your memory forever. Sondheim’s amazing ability to convey mood and message through music along with strong acting on the part of the students, makes this one of Director Valerie Navarro's favorite Foss musicals ever.
Watch as Bobby (Stan Walmer) searches for love and the meaning of life alongside his unique and entertaining married friends. See the antics of an alcoholic husband, Harry (Charles LaRocco) and his food-o-holic wife, Sarah (Kara VanVolkenburg) as they do karate flips on stage. Enjoy the funny dynamics between an insecure, negative husband, David (Jerry Tach) and his oh-so-wise, grounded wife, Jenny (Charissa Pohle). Witness the pre-wedding insanity of bride-to-be Amy (Linda Lai) and her doting fiancé, Paul (Fred Tomlin). Be blown away by the power and wisdom of sarcastic Joanne (Maya Washington) whose husband, Larry, (Josh Pugil) sees through her bravado and loves her to the core. Observe in disbelief as “the happiest couple on earth”, Susan and Peter (Diana Truong and Garrett Merchant) divorce then go on living together. Laugh and cry as three of Bobby’s girlfriends fall in and out of love with our hero. They are: Marta, a tough and wild woman of New York (played by Ashley Bonning), Kathy a beautiful misfit (played by Khuyen Tran) and April, a stewardess who can’t get enough of Bobby’s company. (played by Ilona Trofimovich). See unforgettable performances by actors Dennis Adjetey, Brittany Bonning, Rebecca Coles, Chrishenda Dawkins, Regina Loucks, Jason McAllister, Luan Nguyen-Tran, Bora Ros, Carole Stoddard and Khiem Tran.
This musical deals with mature themes and uses humor to help lessen the impact of human isolation and loneliness. Interspersed between moments of laughter and joy will be serious moments as characters continue on their search for happiness and true love. Pianist, Mary Cassio and bassist, Rose Trent weave it all together through Sondheim’s brilliant and demanding score. When the curtain falls, audience members will leave with renewed hope, recognizing that happiness comes when we have the courage to follow our own hearts.
